The independent consumer champion we run – Healthwatch Torbay – are hosting a community event in Paignton to help support people with their health and wellbeing needs during Winter.

The ‘Winter Wellbeing’ event will be held at Paignton Community Hub at Paignton Library and Information Centre on 1st December, 10am to 2pm, and will offer the local community the opportunity to find out about:

  • The different local health, care and wellbeing support available to you from the services themselves, such as Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust, Macmillan, Age UK, Citizen’s Advice and QWELL, amongst many others.
  • Government support, including benefits to support people with rising energy costs.
  • Helpful community initiatives such as clothes donations, loneliness cafés, how to stay warm this winter and other local community support available.
  • The support on offer to Torbay residents at Paignton Community Hub, Healthwatch Torbay, Digital Health Devon and Paignton Library.

Dr Kevin Dixon, Chair for Healthwatch in Devon, Plymouth and Torbay, said: “For many people, it is difficult to find out about these services and the support available, as a lot of the information is only available online. This is why we are looking to host this special in-person event to support those who may not be aware, or able, to access the support via digital means.”

“Our local community has been hit, like other communities, by the impact of the ongoing cost of living crisis and we are concerned about how this will affect our local population this winter. We sincerely hope this event helps to support people in Torbay with their health and wellbeing needs during Winter and look forward to seeing as many of you as possible there on the day.”
