Torbay Carers Strategy
Listening to carers to shape better support
We supported the development of the Torbay Carers Strategy by independently analysing feedback from carers across the Bay.
This work ensures that services are shaped by real experiences and reflect the needs of over 15,000 unpaid carers locally.
What the project has done
- Delivered a survey with 377 carers over a six-week period
- Analysed 22 structured questions and 11 open-ended responses
- Gathered insight through both online and paper-based engagement
- Identified key themes around access, communication and support
- Produced an independent report to inform the strategy
Impact and outcomes
- Identified that 63% of carers felt GP practices were key to earlier identification
- Highlighted that 49% of carers support someone with mental health needs
- Found that over two thirds of these carers felt poorly supported
- Identified communication, access and support as top priorities
- Directly informed the Torbay Carers Strategy 2024–2027
